David joined Finlaysons in 2011 as a Special Counsel in our Insurance practice area. He brings more than 20 years of experience in the areas of liability and professional indemnity insurance and workers compensation.

Clients are confident in David’s practical approach to claim resolution and his skill as a litigator. His professional but personable approach has helped him build long-term relationships with many clients, who also appreciate his thorough and commercially-focused advice. He is able to quickly and accurately summarise matters and assess outcomes, and clients trust him to resolve claims cost-effectively and efficiently.

David has conducted major commercial litigation in the Federal Court of Australia and the Supreme and District Courts of South Australia. His expertise in the field of professional indemnity insurance has been recognised by his appointment as a panel solicitor to the Law Society of South Australia’s Professional Indemnity Scheme.

Frequently acting for other professionals, David quickly and clearly grasps the technical concepts underlying professional malpractice claims and is able to provide informed and strategic advice to clients. He works closely with his insured clients to understand technical issues so that he can identify and present the best possible case to protect his clients’ interests and reputation.

His expertise has been recognised in Best Lawyers of Australia 2020 for Insurance Law and Professional Malpractice Litigation.
