2 minutes read time

Finlaysons is excited to announce that our Adelaide Head Quarters will be moving to the new Uniting Communities building, U City, in July 2020.

The 20-storey U City building will open its doors today. The vision for the space? Creating a vibrant, integrated community that brings together residential, social, commercial and community services

“It’s an exciting time for Uniting Communities. We congratulate them on the development and the vision they saw for their new building” said Finlaysons managing partner, David Martin.

Mr Martin continued, “As a firm we are thrilled that we will be a part of this new space. Whilst moving is never an easy task, Finlaysons has a strong history of growth and after nearly 30 years of operating from 81 Flinders Street it is the right time for us. We’re excited for continued success and growth over the next decade at U City!”

“We want to be a progressive social firm and we saw this as an opportunity to partner in a sense with one of the most progressive not-for-profit organisations in Adelaide and share their vision on bringing social groups together” said Mr Martin.

U City is an innovative and unique community which is home to:

  • Retirement Residences
  • Specialist Disability Accommodation
  • Accessible Serviced Apartments
  • Function Centre
  • Uniting Communities’ Social Services Hub
  • Commercial and retail spaces

“We’re excited that Finlaysons will become part of the unique U City community next year. Partnering with like-minded organisations who embrace the vision of U City and Uniting Communities has always been a vital piece of the puzzle in creating this vibrant and dynamic community hub in the CBD” said Uniting Communities chief executive, Simon Schrapel.

The building was recognised as the ‘greenest’ building design in Adelaide to date by the Green Building Council of Australia. Achieving a 6-star Greenstar rating and a 5-star NABERS energy rating. U City is designed to use 45% less energy and 30% less water than a comparable new building. The design features include an embedded electricity network, a 55-kilowatt solar PV array on the roof providing renewable energy, gas boosted solar hot water and sustainable transport options such as bicycle racks and electric-car charging stations.

“It’s a remarkable building design. We’re delighted to share the same commitment to sustainability with all the occupants” Mr Martin said.

U City is located on 43 Franklin Street, Adelaide SA.
