Areas of Expertise

“I understand how engineers, regulators and lawyers think and speak – I turn it all into plain English so we can all communicate.”

Kyra’s expertise is unrivalled in her field. She is the only environmental lawyer in South Australia with qualifications and practical experience in both Chemical Engineering and Law. It’s a potent combination and her clients quickly realise the benefits. Also in 2014, she was recognised in 'Best Lawyers Australia' for her expertise in planning and environmental law.

Kyra brings valuable industry insight and expertise to her role as head of our Environment, Climate Change and Planning practice area. Kyra’s combination of technical and legal expertise enables her to talk to clients, engineers, regulators and industry consultants in their own language. For Kyra, it’s almost like being bilingual – it’s an invaluable skill that makes it easier to resolve issues for everyone involved.

With in-house experience in managing the impacts of a carbon-constrained economy, Kyra has advised a wide range of clients on their liabilities under the carbon pricing scheme and the pass-through of carbon costs. Kyra has particular expertise in dealing with site contamination, environmental compliance and project approval issues and is a key advisor to the property development sector and a range of resources clients including petroleum, geothermal energy and mining companies.
