Mark is joint head of our market leading Insurance practice area and he has more than 25 years’ experience in insurance law and civil litigation generally. Mark specialises in defending catastrophic motor accident claims and he has also practised in the fields of professional indemnity, general insurance and administrative law.

Driven by results, not by lengthy legal processes, Mark determinedly pursues his clients’ commercial objectives and is highly regarded in the industry for his skills in negotiation and risk management.

Clients value Mark’s judgment which is underpinned by his years of experience in civil litigation and insurance law. His approach to negotiations is direct and commercial and he ensures clients are informed and engaged at all stages in the process.

A significant part of Mark’s role is that he supervises and mentors a number of our junior practitioners many of whom have gone on to pursue high standing careers.

Experience

Mark specialises in the defence of compulsory third party (CTP) claims, general insurance claims and coronial inquests and regularly advises on risk management strategies. Mark appears in all related jurisdictions including representing parties in mediations as part of the firm’s recognition of the need to identify cost effective solutions to legal problems.

Mark has managed many catastrophic claims and is acutely aware of the impact they can have for all parties involved.

He understands that case outcomes can be driven by many different issues. Mark’s strength is risk management – he skilfully weighs up his client’s options and alternatives and the strengths and weaknesses on all sides to negotiate the best outcome for his client.
